Body of Lies

Here we get the star power of Leonardo Di Caprio and Russell Crowe as CIA agents operating in the middle east.  Crowe operates primarily from the U.S. while Di Caprio is right in the middle of the shit.  They communicate via cell phone almost constantly.

In a nutshell, they are hunting terrorists, trying to keep ahead of the terrorists' moves.  Along the way, we get treated to various 'moral dilemmas' for which we need to decide whether the ends justifies the means.

In any event, the movie moves at a fast pace.  We get to see some brave moves by Di Caprio.  However, most of the movie goes through so many characters and situations at such a fast pace, it's hard to get into it.  If you don't pay close attention, you'll be lost within the first five minutes and never get caught up.

My favorite scene in the movie is not one of violence, but rather a lighter moment.  Di Caprio is creating a new identify for himself and is in the bathroom apply highlights to his hair.  He tells himself as he's doing it "man, you're so gay".  Ain't that the truth.  I'm amazed that the Hollywood politically correct Nazi squads left that one in there.

This one is basically forgettable.  It tries to be a conscious piece, but ends up simply being a clusterfuck.

I'd like to give it 2 and one half, but I don't like to waste beer.  So we'll give it two beers and call it a decent rental for a slow night.
