Guns - Friends of the Second Ammendment

As a counter to the radical, cowardly politicians who are hell bent on confiscating your guns with their policy of incrementalism, a few right thinking men and women stand firm against the agreesors at the gates of the second amendment.

Just as we must fight against our enemies, we must support our friends. Should we fail to fight even the weakest attacks, we will soon find ourselves with but a finger in a dam overflowing with laws limiting, or completely eliminating, our rights to bear arms. 

Here is a partial list of our friends.

The National Rifle Association

This is a no-brainer. They're organized and they're funded. Not by some large conglomerate or mega wealthy financier, but by everyday men and women who appreciate firearms and who want to do all they can to make sure no one ever takes their right away to own and use their firearms.

The NRA lists, as its goals, the protection of the Second Amendment of the United States Bill of Rights and the promotion of firearm ownership rights, marksmanship, firearm safety, and the protection of hunting and self-defense in the United States. It was established in 1871 in New York by William Conant Church and George Wood Wingate as the American Rifle Association; its first President was former Senator and famous Civil War Union Army General Ambrose Burnside.President of the United States Ulysses S. Grant served as the NRA's eighth President.

The NRA sponsors firearm safety training courses, as well as marksmanship events featuring shooting skills and sports. The NRA is sometimes said to be the single most powerful lobbying organization in the United States.Its political activity is based on the principle that gun ownership is a civil liberty protected by the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights, and it claims to be the oldest continuously operating civil liberties organization in the United States. According to its website, the NRA has nearly four million members.

Gun Owners of America

Gun Owners of America (GOA) is a gun rights organization in the United States with over 300,000 members. They make efforts to differentiate themselves from the larger National Rifle Association (NRA), and have publicly criticized the NRA on multiple occasions for what the GOA considers to be the selling out of the gun rights movement.

The organization has often been in opposition to the NRA in their respective endorsements and ratings of politicians and candidates. For instance, the GOA was outspoken in its opposition to John McCain's 2008 presidential bid, describing his gun-rights voting record as "abysmal, wretched, and pathetic" and rating him with an F- on Second Amendment issues since 2004 as opposed to the NRA's (through its political arm, the NRA-PVF) C+ rating of McCain. The GOA especially took issue with the NRA over the 2007 NICS Improvement Act.

They have been described by Congressman Ron Paul as "The only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington." This quote from Paul has long been displayed front and center on the homepage of the Gun Owners of America website, and the only 2008 Presidential Candidate to gain an A+ rating from Gun Owners of America is Paul.
